Abstract |
The dominant form of emerging city living in most developing countries like Nigeria is based on the automobile and this form is sometimes called sprawl.In this study work, it is document that urban sprawl Akure metropolis is ubiquitous and that is continuing to expand. Using a variety of evidence,it is observed that sprawl is not the result of explicit government policies or bad urban planning, but rather the inexorable product of automobile-based living pattern.Akure urban Sprawl has been associated with significant improvements in quality of living, and the environmental impacts of sprawl have been considerably offset by technological change. in conclusion,it is recommended that the main social and economic problems associated with urban sprawl in Akure metropolis is the fact that some people are left behind because they do not earn enough to afford the cars that this form of living requires and invariably dictates. |
