Short Outline
The main task of public authorities is to find ways how, in the course of formation of urban architecture, to create assumptions for the public to become a new-type, active and cooperative civic society taking part in city development processes.
Abstract
On the basis of democratic society development principles, the origin of the effect of different social groups on the territory development process, its historic sources, professional and emotional relationship with aesthetic city image formation, urban process development are discussed in the paper. Economic, social, political and other informal effect (IfE) consequences in urban development are analyzed. Internal social relationship of modes of living in urbanized territories, effects of development planning on the above-mentioned processes are revealed.
Aims of the article are to summarize aspects of public participation in city architecture formation, to estimate how the aims and results of urban planning in Lithuania correspond to public interests, how society, as participant of the process, can influence development of the city, it‘s ability to hear the opinion of other participants of planning process, estimating the publicity of community behaviour, i. e. if they want and are able to participate in decision making forming city architecture process. If this problem - searching of dialog forms between planning documents organizers, organizers and public participation – is characteristic only for us, Lithuanians.
