Abstract |
The Chinese urban modernization is seeing its integration with conception of Low-carbon City while being in the process of industrialization and urbanization. Scientific Urban Planning is the first step proceeding to 'Low-carbon City'. Shanghai has been selected as one of first two pilot cities by WWF for 'Chinese Low-carbon City Project'. The World Expo 2010, Shanghai, the theme of which is 'Better City, Better Life' is the first EXPO focusing on 'City' since its beginning 150 years ago. Therefore, the urban planning of EXPO 2010 is also targeting at future 'Harmonious City', taking EXPO Sites as a whole entity on purpose of testing and demonstrating the consideration on future Chinese city development mode and finally explore a healthier and more rational development road. Among them, there are structure coordination and size control of EXPO Sites, historic heritage conservation, open space integration and renovation of green space as well as the guidance for energy-saving techniques on traffic and architecture. The author hopes: through the viewpoint of 'Low-carbon City' and review as well reflection on Plan of EXPO 2010, an important record and consideration will be left for urban planning in China. |
