Abstract |
Low Carbon City (LCC) means a city keeps its CO2 emission in low level while maintaining rapid economic development. Measures that build on LCC include adjustment of industrial and energy use structure, change of life mode and innovation of production technology, etc. Among all these measure, urban planning should be highly prioritized since it can lock the CO2 emission by determination on spatial structure of the city.
Shenzhen is one of the cities in China which has undergone the fastest development in recent 30 years. In order to establish and maintain a favorable ecological environment and promote sustainable development of the city during the rapid urbanization, a lot of planning practices targeting LCC have been carried out throughout the whole urban planning hierarchy of Shenzhen. With the introduction of these practices, the proposed paper will analyze how urban planning can help develop LCC. Suggestions in spatial layout, urban transport, land use, density control and mixture of land-use, etc. will be raised for urban planners. |
