In the post-crisis era, China is making strategic changes in its growth patterns. In 2009, Ecological Planning of 16 km2 Science and Education Innovation Zone in Suzhou, China, was made possible. A low-carbon and eco-innovation-driven science park should be created.
Abstract
In post-crisis era, China is making strategic changes in economic restructuring and growth patterns. Ecological and sustainable city is the development direction of China in the future. Suzhou Industrial Park is China's first national eco-industrial park, In 2009, we made overall ecological assessment of the 288 km2 Industrial Park and made Ecological Planning of its 16km2 Science and Education Innovation Zone which is the aggregation of Biological nano Park, Photoelectric industrial park, Creative Industry Park, Service outsourcing industry park, Environmental protection industry park and a number of new industrial bases. The Ecological Planning seeks to create a low-carbon and eco-innovation-driven science park.
In industry, the planning emphasis on low carbon industrial system oriented by circular economy; In space layout, it emphasis on low-carbon distribution pattern oriented by compact and mixed use; In transport organizations, it emphasis on green traffic system oriented by public transport; In energy use, it emphasis on clean energy systems oriented by new energy use and conservation; In ecological construction, it emphasis on diverse eco-system oriented by expanding carbon Collection; In urban design, it emphasis on urban space system oriented by maintaining a balance of ecosystem; In architectural design, it emphasis on green building system oriented by new materials and technology; In index system, it emphasis on planning management system oriented by operability and examination.
The Ecological Planning successfully promoted the transformation and upgrade of Suzhou Industrial Park and ensured the city¡¯s sustainable development. It has significant reference for city development in developing countries.
