Abstract |
This Case Study focuses the importance of exploring geographical differences materialized in the vernacular architecture and urban fabrics regarding new stimulanting alternatives for living in the north region of Portugal where families used to have their own family houses and farmes in old towns or villages. A a lot of this places were abandoned during the last four decades. Now, in a globalized era, some people (the originals descendents of ancien owners, or others...)find this region an alternative for living, a potencial place where they may reach qualities that they can't find in the big metropolis. This also means that new policies and new management systems shoud be provide by governmental and essencially local politics also considering the private investors in those areas. |
