The paper aims to shed light on the impacts of cultural globalization on the urban fabric in metropolis cities as Cairo. In achieving such an aim, some questions will be tackled, how cultural globalization is leading to changes in metropolis cities? Has the world reached a point were territorialized culture has disappeared? How could inhabitants and professionals take advantages of the globalization processes and how they could avoid losing grounds towards their cultural heritage?
Abstract
Cultural globalization has changed and continues to change most aspects of life style especially in metropolis cities were global changes have their remarkable effect on their inhabitants. Through out this century, it has been noticed that the globalization of urbanism has been taking shape. The paper aims to shed light on the impacts of cultural globalization on the urban fabric in metropolis cities as Cairo. In achieving such an aim, some questions will be tackled, how cultural globalization is leading to changes in metropolis cities? Has the world reached a point were territorialized culture has disappeared? How could inhabitants and professionals take advantages of the globalization processes and how they could avoid losing grounds towards their cultural heritage?
First the term globalization will be identified showing how global flows affect the symbolic sphere. Second, the paper concentrates on cultural globalization and the flow of changes on life style, in addition to its effect on cultural homogenization and cultural heterogenization. Interlocking changes in the urban form will be further identified. The theoretical sectors are then followed by the case study which allows a more concrete analysis of the global process on cities, where the effect of cultural globalization on Cairo as a metropolis city will be addressed.
