Abstract |
The Caspian Sea region located at the crossroads of traditional trade routes between Europe and Asia and possessing vast natural resources, oil and natural gas among them, it attracts widespread international interest. The collapse of USSR has led to changes of formed city networks especially within Caspian Sea Region. It is important to project a new conceptual model of Caspian urban networks, which is able to clarify the existing situation and acknowledge the potential possibilities of development in the future. The main effect of urban networks in Caspian Sea region is to gain sustainable urban development. This paper offers a competent analysis of the existing situation and proposes the conceptual model of the formation of networked system of cities in the Caspian Sea region.
